Unpaid Wages

Failing to Pay the Wages You Earned Is Illegal

Under California law, employers are required to pay the wages you earned in a timely manner. If you leave involuntarily due to a lay off or termination, your employer must pay you immediately, including all money owed for unused vacation days and time-off benefits. If you resign voluntarily, you are entitled to receive all money due within 72 hours.

If you are owed money for wages earned, your employer is breaking the law. You may be the victim of a policy to withhold pay as long as possible. Many businesses hope that you will simply go away and not worry about the amount you are still owed.
